| The glass curtainwall on Ferris State Universitys FLITE Building slopes outward 7 degrees from vertical. The outward-sloping corners, details of anchorage, mullion design and material interfaces challenged Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc., engineers. This multi-million-dollar glazing project was competitively bid.
Challenge:
To design, engineer and install a 7 degree inverted slope multi-span curtainwall system with vertically butt-glazed corner conditions and metal panel infill units.
Solution:
Modify a standard curtainwall system utilizing multi-span design. Architectural Glass & Metals worked directly with curtainwall manufacturer, Vistawall Architectural Products, to engineer a structurally sound and economical curtainwall system consistent with the architect's design intent.
