| Architect blends daylighting design with stringent thermal performance criteria.
Challenge:
Provide energy efficient fenestration systems that will allow a significant amount of natural daylight into the facility without compromising thermal performance or energy efficiency.
Solution:
Architectural Glass & Metals worked closely with GMB Architects and Lamar Construction to provide high performance curtainwall and skylight systems that achieved energy efficient performance levels as specified. AGM in conjunction with our manufacturers, Kalwall and Visionwall, developed material interface conditions as required to maintain continuity of air and vapor barriers yielding an extremely thermal efficient installation. The Visionwall curtainwall system incorporated high performance 2" insulated glazing units within a pre-assembled unitized aluminum frame with an approximate R-Value of 5 while the Kalwall skylight systems incorporate thermally-broken insulated translucent panels with tinted face sheets and a similar R-Value.
