All extensive renovations pose a unique set of challenges; however, a major airport project necessitates collective and creative construction methods to ensure the facility remains totally functional and safe. Construction went on 24 hours a day, with most Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc., work occurring after 7 p.m.

Set a large preglazed curtainwall after hours within a very tight, windy construction site.

Solution:
Since proper sequencing of material deliveries was crucial to the success of this multi-phase project, Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc., Project Manager Marty Yager meticulously coordinated delivery schedules to ensure that materials were fabricated and at the job site on time.

Architectural Glass & Metals, Inc., designers and installers created the full-length canopy from 27- by 2-foot thermo-plastic panels designed to cover a structural steel frame. Special precautions and techniques were employed to ensure the panels were not damaged by wind during installation. Special anchorage was designed into the aluminum system to accommodate movement caused by temperature changes within the terminal.
