| Metal panels and clear span curtainwall systems define the free form exterior of Grand Rapids newest show piece.
Challenge:
To enclose over 1,000,000 sf of exhibit space with timeless and durable materials within tight budget constraints.
Solution:
Architectural Glass & Metals worked closely with the design and construction team to develop exterior cladding and fenestration systems that met the architects design goals and fell within budget parameters. The use of insulated steel foam panels and profiled siding in standard modules proved to be an economical solution allowing for an expressive use of clear span curtainwall at the Grand Gallery area. 70 foot tall custom fabricated cable reinforced vertical truss members and associated framing were erected by AGM and clad with a shallow depth aluminum curtainwall skin to create a very large and unobstructed expanse of glass highlighting the main entry points of this uniquely designed structure.
