| UNIQUE FEATURES: |
The exterior building envelope of the Fred & Lena Meijer Heart Center project includes approximately 100,000 square feet of high performance curtain wall, insulated metal panels, aluminum louvers and skylights furnished and installed by Architectural Glass & Metals. Inc.
AGM worked closely with URS Corporation and Wolverine/Turner throughout a competitively bid design-build process to help design, engineer and install the exterior envelope system to achieve the performance, aesthetic and cost goals set by the ownership group. One of the primary design goals for the building facade was to eliminate uncontrolled water infiltration. AGMs ability to provide Single-Source continuity for the majority of the building enclosure assured the design team that many of the critical material interface conditions would be achieved as envisioned.
A few of the unique design elements incorporated into the building facade included vertical butt-glazed joints, extended curtain wall covers, concealed vent windows, custom color spandrel glazing and insulated aluminum panels to create additional definition within the carious wall systems.
