GVSU Kennedy Hall of Engineering
PROJECT: Grand Valley State University - John C. Kennedy Hall of Engineering
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI
DESIGN: Progressive AE
CONTRACT: Competitively Bid
COMPLETION DATE: April 2007
UNIQUE FEATURES: The exterior building envelope of the GVSU John C. Kennedy Hall of Engineering facility incorporates approximately 40,000 square feet of custom engineered aluminum curtain all and horizontal profiled siding furnished and installed by Architectural Glass & Metals. Inc.

AGM worked closely with Progressive AE and Pioneer Inc., throughout the design and construction phases of this project to help fine tune this unique building envelope design. A combination of translucent and transparent insulated glazing units were utilized to allow significant amounts of filtered natural daylight to penetrate deep within the building interior. One of the many unique challenges of the proposed building envelope design was to balance the vertical mullion spacing of the engineered aluminum curtain wall system with the fabrication limitations of the translucent glazing units, while maintaining specific performances requirements necessary to achieve LEED goals established by the design team.
